Amazon.com Product Description Keep yourself sharp when training for that 10K race (or just trying to lose a couple pounds) and keep yourself on time for important appointments with the Timex T5C291 Data Link USB Ironman digital watch. It combines the convenience of a personal organizer with the performance of a full-function, digital timepiece, and it easily connects to your PC for synchronization of schedules as well as timing data. It features a matte resin body with metallic top ring, durable stainless-steel strap, crown for easy setting, 2-year battery life, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet). Sport training features include a 200-lap chronograph with multiple session memory, multiple countdown timers with labels, multi-event interval timers, and dual setting options. The included software works with Microsoft Outlook for Windows PCs (Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, and XP), and it enables you to set hundreds of alarms, timers, and interval timers as well as choose custom sounds. The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. Timex's U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico. The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the "Switzerland of America." Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey's hands pointing the time. During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through "torture tests," such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches. The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality. One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo® lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity. Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you.

Great Watch at a Great Value5 I've been looking for a watch like this for years. This watch is great. I used to have a Casio Forester. I could save up to 20 phone numbers in it. I quickly out grew it, always having to take numbers out to add new ones. Also, it didn't look very professional all blinking, flashing and stuff. I always felt a little silly wearing it in the work setting. To start off with, my Timex Data Link 5C291 looks great! Sporty yet professional enough with the metal band. To date, I've put over 100 phone numbers in it and haven't even gotten near 50% of its memory storage. I also use it at work to download my MS Outlook schedule & contacts list. It is so simple and I have set it up to auto update whenever I connect the watch to the computer. All my co-workers schlep there PDAs around with them to do what this watch does. Of course, my timex can't do everything their PDA does but most of them never use it beyond finding phone numbers and checking their schedule. I also love the flexibility of setting up the menus. I've customized it so that I can get the info I want fast and don't have to scroll through unwanted menus or functions. The software works well and is easy to learn and use. I'm using Windows XP at work that is connected to an office network. This is the best designed digital product I've ever purchased. This watch is a steal for the price. Wish List I do wish that there were a few additions. I've looked into the added 3rd party programs that can be downloaded to the watch and found them for the most part just toys. It would be nice if there were some more useful applications beyond just what Timex created. Also, the watch only works on one computer. That means either your work computer or your home computer. It can sometimes be a little of a hassle waiting to get to work to add a personal phone number. Another limiting function is when contacts are added to the watch from MS Outlook they are brought in last name first. I don't always know the last name of my contacts and it can be difficult and time consuming to find them when this is the case. That's it. Everything else is awesome. In short, this is a great watch and well worth the money. Forget the PDA, too much of a hassle. Carry it all in your watch. This is a GREAT watch!5 Lets start with the only two negatives: Rather large size and you need a PC with a USB port. Now that is over with, this is a terrific watch! The program installs easily on the PC and ALL data is put on the watch with a very slick program. I put in all my addresses, birth days, appointments, and a ton of utilities (and games- let's not forget games!). The screen is very large and easily read. The band is solid and (once you learn how) easily adjusted for size. There are dozens of apps that can be downloaded that other folks have written for the watch. I can set the watch time by updating the PC with NIST and then attaching my watch (poof within a second of dead accurate). Keeps time well, the buttons are easily pushed but not obtrusive. The birthdays and appointments slide down a week scale on the watch so I do not get surprised. So lets see what I have right now: countown timer for walking and swimming, stopwatch, couple dozen contacts (including chinese place), black jack, scientific calulator, magic 8 ball, yathzee, occasion, and options. Seconds to connect, change things and redownload. all data can be stored on a backup so never have to do it twice. What a great watch! Everything I was looking for....5 The watch is a bit on the big side but for everything it does, I can overlook that. It has a good, easy to read, display and has "Indiglo" to make it easy to see in the dark. I use the watch to keep me reminded of all my work meetings, to keep track of my contacts and to keep my golf score--among the myriad other applications it can have. Only quibble? I wish the alarm was a wee bit louder. I tried for a long time to get the actual size of this watch prior to purchase but I had a tough time. So, for those interested: The black part of the bezel is 1.5 inches top to bottom and side to side. From the extreme left edge to the extreme right (of the crown) is 1.85 inches.
